Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the sanctity of a place made holy by the presence of devarṣis; in the Mahābhārata, such settings signal that events unfolding there are under the gaze of dharma and cosmic order.

Vaiśampāyana describes a moment when the gods, along with the Vasus (named as beginning with Pṛthu), arrive at a forest that is regularly visited by divine seers, preparing the stage for subsequent developments.
