अनुक्रमणिकाध्यायः (Anukramaṇikā Adhyāya) — Invocation, Narrator Frame, and Textual Scope

“O Gaṇanāyaka, become the scribe of this Bhārata. As I dictate it aloud, write it down—this whole work I have already fashioned within my mind.”
The verse highlights disciplined transmission of knowledge: a vast dharmic narrative is to be preserved through careful collaboration—one who has inwardly realized and composed it dictates, and a capable scribe records it faithfully.
The composer of the Bhārata addresses Gaṇanāyaka (Gaṇeśa), requesting him to serve as the writer of the epic while it is dictated, emphasizing that the work has already been mentally composed.
