Mantra 1
Kuhū! Kuhū, the Goddess, beneficent, with knowledge active, in this sacrifice—easy to invoke—I call on her again and again. May she assign to us wealth of every choicest sort, and give a hero-son, a hundred-giving boon, worthy of hymn.
Mantra 2
Kuhū, the Gods’ consort of immortality—may she accept for us the offered portions of this oblation. Let her, well-inclined, hear the sacrifice to-day, and, wise in her knowing, bestow on us increase of wealth.
Kuhū is a lunar goddess associated with the dark/new-moon phase, invoked here as a beneficent power who accepts offerings and turns the sacrifice into prosperity and fertility.
It asks for wealth of every desirable kind (viśvavāra rayi), sustained increase of resources (rāyas-poṣa), and the gift of a vīra—understood as a strong, worthy son or heroic strength for the household.
It fits especially well around amāvāsyā (new-moon observances) or any domestic offering for prosperity. Recite the two mantras with a simple havis offering, asking Kuhū to accept and ‘hear’ the rite so the requested increase manifests.
