Sukta 3
श्रुत्कर्णाय कवये वेद्याय वचोभिर्वाकैरुप यामि रातिम्। यतो भयमभयं तन्नो अस्त्वव देवानां यज हेडो अग्ने
śrútkarṇā́ya kaváye vedyā̀ya vácobhir vākái rúpa yāmi rātím | yáto bhayám abháyaṃ tán no astv áva devā́nāṃ yaja héḍo agne ||
To Śrutkarṇa, to the Sage, to the Knowing One, with holy utterances, with words of power, I draw near for a gift. From what quarter fear ariseth, let that become for us fearlessness. Do thou, O Agni, worship away the Gods’ displeasure.
Rishi: Traditionally Atharvanic/Angirasic attribution for late-book śānti material (exact r̥ṣi assignment varies by anukramaṇī).
Devata: Agni (as remover of devānāṃ heḍas) with an implicit śānti/abhaya aim.
Chandas: Anuṣṭubh (late Atharvanic cadence; may be catalogued as mixed in some indices).
