ध्रुवायै त्वा दिशे विष्णवेऽधिपतये कल्माषग्रीवाय रक्षित्र ओषधीभ्य इषुमतीभ्यः । एतं परि दद्मस्तं नो गोपायतास्माकमैतोः । दिष्टं नो अत्र जरसे नि नेषज्जरा मृत्यवे परि णो ददात्वथ पक्वेन सह सं भवेम
dhruvā́yai tvā diśé viṣṇáve ’dhípataye kalmā́ṣagrīvāya rakṣitré óṣadhībhya iṣúmatībhyaḥ | etáṃ pári dadmás táṃ no gopāyatāsmā́kam áitoḥ | diṣṭáṃ no átrá jarásé ní neṣaj jarā́ mṛtyáve pári ṇo dadātvátha pakvéna sahá sáṃ bhavema
To the steadfast Quarter thee we assign—to Viṣṇu as its Lord, to Kalmāṣagrīva the Guardian, to the Herbs, arrow-armed. This do we set about us: let it guard us from the assailant. Here may our appointed lot conduct us unto old age; let Age set a fence about us against Death; then, with ripeness, may we together be made whole.
