Sukta 14
असितस्य ते ब्रह्मणा कश्यपस्य गयस्य च । अन्तःकोशमिव जामयोऽपि नह्यामि ते भगम्
asítasya te bráhmaṇā kaśyápasya gáyasya ca | antáḥkośam iva jāmáyo ápi nahyāmi te bhágam ||
With the spell of Asita, of Kaśyapa, and of Gaya, I bind fast for thee thy Bhaga (thy fortunate portion), as though within an inner sheath, as kinsmen clasp one another close.
Rishi: Tradition associates the verse with Atharvanic seer-lineages named in the mantra (Asita, Kaśyapa, Gaya) as invoked authorities.
Devata: Bhaga (Fortune/Allotment), secondarily the efficacious Brahman (mantra-power) and the invoked ṛṣis as guarantors.
Chandas: Anuṣṭubh (4 pādas of 8 syllables; Atharvanic anuṣṭubh with minor phonetic adjustments).
