प्रत्यग्निं प्रति सूर्यं च प्रति गां व्रतिनं प्रति । प्रति सोमोदकं सन्ध्यां प्रज्ञा नश्यति मेहतः
pratyagniṃ prati sūryaṃ ca prati gāṃ vratinaṃ prati | prati somodakaṃ sandhyāṃ prajñā naśyati mehataḥ
Barangsiapa kencing menghadap api suci, matahari, sapi, pelaku tapa-brata, air suci bulan, atau pemujaan senja (sandhyā), maka daya budi dan kejernihan batinnya dikatakan lenyap.
Lomaharṣaṇa (Sūta) to the sages (deduced from Māheśvara-khaṇḍa context)
Scene: A householder pauses at twilight; sacred fire burns in a small altar, the sun low on the horizon; a cow and a vratin are nearby; the man turns away respectfully, emphasizing restraint and reverence; a water-pot labeled as consecrated (somodaka) sits beside a sandhyā worship setup.
Disrespect toward sacred presences and rites dulls inner clarity; dharma protects prajñā through reverent conduct.
No location is named; the verse is about reverence toward sacred realities (agni, sūrya, sandhyā, etc.).
Do not urinate facing agni, the sun, cows, vow-keepers, holy water, or the sandhyā time/rite.
