Dan ketika tulang-belulang mereka dihanyutkan ke samudra, perjalanan rohaninya menjadi tak binasa. Setelah lama berdiam di svarga, mereka kembali dan datang lagi menuju keadaan-keadaan yang mujur.
Sūta (Lomaharṣaṇa) to the sages (deduced)
Tirtha: Samudra (sea) connected to Barkareśa antyeṣṭi rites
Type: sangam
Scene: A funeral party at the seashore at dawn: a small urn of ashes and bones is offered to the waves; priests chant while the ocean glows; a subtle vision of the departed ascending to svarga is hinted in the sky.
Purāṇic dharma links respectful funerary rites with elevated posthumous destiny, emphasizing sanctified places and proper observances.
The Barkareśa sacred region is implied as the cremation locus; the verse further connects its rite to oceanic asthi-visarjana.
Asthi-visarjana: immersing the bones (asthi) into the ocean is praised as granting akṣayā gati (imperishable progress).
