व्याघ्रेणापहृतां पत्नीं वीक्ष्य विप्रोऽतिदुःखितः । रुरोद हा प्रिये बाले हा कांते हा पतिव्रते
vyāghreṇāpahṛtāṃ patnīṃ vīkṣya vipro'tiduḥkhitaḥ | ruroda hā priye bāle hā kāṃte hā pativrate
Melihat istrinya direnggut oleh harimau, sang brāhmaṇa diliputi duka yang amat. Ia menangis keras: “Aduhai, kekasihku! Wahai yang lembut! Wahai tercinta! Wahai istri setia!”
