Bondage and Liberation: The Prakṛti–Karma Wheel and Śiva as the Transcendent Cause

Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Sthala Purana: Not a site-legend; it legitimizes the practice by citing precedent: devas and ṛṣis performed the rite for svātma-siddhi in a śuddha-maṇḍala with mantra and personal effort.
Significance: Emphasizes adhikāra and method: purity of space (maṇḍala), purity of sound (mantra), and purity of agency (ātmahasta) together conduce to siddhi and, in Siddhānta terms, readiness for Śiva’s liberating grace.
Role: teaching
It emphasizes that siddhi (spiritual accomplishment) arises from disciplined, personal sādhanā—performed with mantra and inner intent—within purity of space and mind, oriented toward Pati (Śiva) as the liberating Lord.
A “śuddha-maṇḍala” is the consecrated setting commonly used for saguna worship such as Liṅga-pūjā; the verse highlights correct procedure—mantra and personal performance—by which devotees approach Śiva through form for inner transformation.
Prepare a clean sacred space/maṇḍala, perform worship personally (not casually delegated), and recite Shiva-mantras with focus—especially the pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) where applicable—maintaining purity and steadiness of mind.
