Account of the Birth/Origin of Vyāsa
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
It presents Śiva (Pati) as the giver of vidyā and spiritual capability, emphasizing that true knowledge and even scriptural expression arise through His anugraha (grace) gained by worship.
The verse frames worship (ārādhana) of Mahādeva as the means to receive divine grace; in Shiva Purana practice this is commonly expressed through Saguna devotion—especially Linga-worship—through which Śiva bestows knowledge and inner fitness.
Regular Śiva-ārādhana: japa of the Panchākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”), Linga-pūjā with offerings, and a prayer for anugraha—seeking wisdom (vidyā) rather than worldly gain.
