Account of the Birth/Origin of Vyāsa
दण्डनायकमुख्यांश्च गणान्स्तुत्वा प्रयत्नतः । आदिकेशवमुख्यांश्च केशवान्परितोष्य च
daṇḍanāyakamukhyāṃśca gaṇānstutvā prayatnataḥ | ādikeśavamukhyāṃśca keśavānparitoṣya ca
Setelah dengan sungguh-sungguh memuji para gaṇa yang dipimpin Daṇḍanāyaka, dan juga menyenangkan para Keśava yang dipimpin Ādi-Keśava, ia melanjutkan maksudnya.

Sthala Purana: The verse situates a pilgrim/ritual actor honoring Śiva’s gaṇas and also pleasing Keśava-forms, reflecting Purāṇic etiquette of propitiating attendant deities and allied divine powers before proceeding with a vow or tīrtha-sequence.
Significance: Establishes ritual ‘adhikāra’ (fitness) by honoring Śiva’s retinue (gaṇas) and maintaining harmony with Vaiṣṇava powers; supports obstacle-removal and smooth completion of pilgrimage/vrata.

The verse highlights disciplined devotion: one approaches the Supreme (Pati, Śiva) with humility by honoring His gaṇas and also maintaining reverence toward other divine powers, reflecting harmony rather than sectarian conflict.
In Saguna worship, devotion is expressed not only to Śiva but also to His sacred sphere—His attendants (gaṇas), guardians, and divine order. Such reverence supports purity of mind, which is central to Linga-upāsanā and Śiva-bhakti.
It suggests stuti (praise) and propitiation as preparatory practice—reciting Śiva-stotras, offering respect to Śiva’s gaṇas, and maintaining devotional discipline (bhakti with effort), which can accompany japa of the Pañcākṣarī mantra.
