ज्ञानवाप्तिर्यदा न स्याद्योगशास्त्राणि यत्नतः । अध्येतव्यानि पौराणं शास्त्रं श्रोतव्यमेव च

jñānavāptiryadā na syādyogaśāstrāṇi yatnataḥ | adhyetavyāni paurāṇaṃ śāstraṃ śrotavyameva ca

It teaches that if experiential jñāna does not arise through strenuous yogic study alone, one should turn to the Shiva-oriented Purāṇic śāstra—especially through śravaṇa (devout listening)—because Śiva’s grace and right doctrine remove ignorance and loosen pāśa (bondage).

Purāṇic study and listening typically transmit Saguna Śiva upāsanā—Linga worship, mantra, and vrata—through which the mind becomes purified; that purification supports the dawning of knowledge leading toward realization of Śiva as Pati beyond bondage.
