Viṣṇu’s Hymn and the Petition for Śiva–Satī’s Protection
Brahmā (addressing Lord Śiva, preparing to proclaim Shaiva tattva to the devas and sages)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Role: teaching
It establishes the right way to receive Shaiva doctrine: with humility before Īśvara’s command and with the mind collected, so the listener can truly assimilate Shiva-tattva (Pati as the supreme Lord).
By urging devas and sages to “hold Shaiva tattva” while listening, it points to attentive śravaṇa and inner steadiness as the foundation for Saguna worship (including Linga-upāsanā), where form-based devotion leads the mind toward Shiva’s supreme reality.
It suggests dhyāna and disciplined listening (śravaṇa): steady the mind, then hear and contemplate Shiva’s teaching—practically supported in Shaiva practice by japa of the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and calm, focused devotion.
