The Mountain-King Invites Śiva
Hospitality to Śiva and the Devas
The Devas (gods)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Type: stotra
Offering: pushpa
It is a stuti where the Devas affirm Śiva’s unsurpassed greatness: in Shaiva Siddhanta, Pati (Śiva) is the supreme Lord whose grace, not mere worldly merit, is the highest purifier and liberator.
By praising Śiva’s exalted kīrti and unmatched holiness, the verse supports Saguna-upāsanā—devotional worship of Śiva as approachable Lord, commonly expressed through Liṅga worship, abhiṣeka, and recitation of hymns.
The immediate takeaway is stuti and nāma-smaraṇa: recite Śiva’s names (e.g., with the Pañcākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) as a devotional practice, especially alongside simple worship such as offering water to the Liṅga.
