देवगुरुप्रेषणम्
Himālaya Mission of the Gods’ Preceptor / The Gods Send Their Guru
अथ स्मृत्वा महादेवं बृहस्पतिरुदारधीः । उवाच देववर्यांश्च धिक्कृत्वा च पुनः पुनः
atha smṛtvā mahādevaṃ bṛhaspatirudāradhīḥ | uvāca devavaryāṃśca dhikkṛtvā ca punaḥ punaḥ
Kemudian Bṛhaspati yang berakal luhur mengingat Mahādeva. Sambil berulang kali mencela para dewa terkemuka, ia berbicara lagi dan lagi, menuntut pertanggungjawaban atas hilangnya kebijaksanaan mereka, sebab hanya Śiva tempat berlindung sejati.
Sūta Gosvāmin (narrating the episode; within the scene Bṛhaspati speaks to the devas)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Role: teaching
It highlights smaraṇa—remembering Mahādeva—as the corrective to confusion and pride, implying that true clarity (viveka) arises when the mind turns to Śiva, the supreme Pati and refuge.
By stressing remembrance of Mahādeva in a moment of crisis, it supports Saguna devotion: the devotee fixes the mind on Śiva (often through Liṅga-upāsanā) as the accessible, saving presence that restores right understanding.
A practical takeaway is japa and smaraṇa—mentally remembering Śiva and repeating the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) to steady the intellect before speech and action.
