The verse emphasizes Śakti as the effective power behind divine action and portrays Gaṇeśa as an empowered guardian of dharma—strength arising from alignment with Shiva’s śakti rather than mere physical force.
In Purāṇic practice, devotion to Saguna Shiva includes honoring Shiva’s śakti and his gaṇas; Gaṇeśa’s decisive act here reflects the protective, world-ordering function that supports proper Shiva-worship and access to Shiva’s grace.
Begin Shiva-pūjā with Gaṇeśa-vandana and japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”), seeking obstacle-removal and steadiness of mind before deeper meditation on Shiva.
