Krauñca Seeks Refuge; Slaying of Bāṇāsura

It highlights that victory over demonic forces is ultimately accomplished by the supreme Śakti—divine power operating under the lordship of Pati (Śiva)—showing that grace and power, not mere egoic strength, remove darkness instantly.
Śakti’s swift action reflects Saguna Śiva’s protective, accessible aspect in Purāṇic narrative—devotees worship the Linga as the seat of Śiva’s presence from which Śiva-Śakti’s grace and protection flow into the world.
The verse supports protective Śiva-upāsanā: steady japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and reverent use of Tripuṇḍra-bhasma as a reminder that all negativity is to be ‘burnt to ashes’ by Śiva’s grace.
