Devīkṛta-praśna-varṇana (Description of the Goddess’s Questions) /
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Umāpati
It presents the Shaiva Siddhanta theme that the soul’s approach to Pati (Śiva) is supported by divine grace and fulfilled through disciplined tapas guided by a realized teacher.
Parvatī’s goal is union with Saguna Śiva—the personal Lord who responds to devotion; in Purāṇic practice this devotion is commonly expressed through Liṅga worship, mantra, and vrata undertaken with the same intent as her tapas.
The verse points to tapas under guidance—practically reflected in vrata, japa of the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya), meditation on Śiva, and disciplined purity (often supported by bhasma and rudrākṣa in Shaiva observance).
