The Slaying of Mahodara
प्रगृह्यविपुलांघोरांमहीधरसमांशिलाम् ।चिक्षेप स महातेजास्तद्वधायहरीश्वरः ।।6.98.12।।
pragṛhya vipulāṃ ghorāṃ mahīdharasamāṃ śilām |
cikṣepa sa mahātejās tadvadhāya harīśvaraḥ ||6.98.12||
Maka sang Mahateja, penguasa para vānarā, merengkuh sebuah batu besar yang mengerikan laksana gunung, lalu melemparkannya untuk membinasakannya.
Endowed with great energy, Sugriva, the monkey Lord, seizing a huge mountain like dreadful rock, hurled to kill Mahodara.
Dharma in war is purposeful action: force is directed toward stopping an aggressor, not toward needless cruelty.
Sugrīva attacks Mahodara by throwing a massive rock.
Valor and resolve—Sugrīva acts decisively to protect his side.
