The Slaying of Kumbhakarna
आयुधानि च सर्वाणिविप्राकीर्यन्तभूतले ।स निरायुधमात्मानंयदामेनेमहाबलः ।।।।मुष्टिभ्यां च चरणाभ्यां च चकारकदनंमहत् ।
āyudhāni ca sarvāṇi viprākīryanta bhūtale | sa nirāyudham ātmānaṃ yadā mene mahābalaḥ | muṣṭibhyāṃ ca caraṇābhyāṃ ca cakāra kadanaṃ mahat ||
Ketika segala senjatanya tercerai di tanah, sang perkasa itu menyadari dirinya tanpa senjata; namun dengan kepalan tangan dan tendangan kaki ia menimbulkan kehancuran besar.
All his weapons scattered on the ground, the mighty Kumbhakarna deprived of weapons thought for himself and created havoc with his feet and fists.
It warns that when inner restraint is absent, violence does not depend on instruments; dharma requires self-governance, otherwise strength turns into indiscriminate harm.
Kumbhakarṇa’s weapons are lost/scattered, yet he continues the fight using only his body, causing heavy destruction.
By contrast, the implied virtue is disciplined force (maryādā in battle): righteous warriors aim to stop a threat, not to revel in destruction.
