The Intensification of the Rama–Ravana Duel

nihatya rāghavasyāstraṃ rāvaṇaḥ krodhamūrcchitaḥ || 6.100.40 ||
asuraṃ sumahāghoram anyad astraṃ cakāra saḥ |
Setelah meniadakan astra Rāghava, Rāvaṇa yang diliputi amarah pun membentuk dan melepaskan senjata lain, amat mengerikan, berdaya asura.
Making Rama's missile void, Ravana manifested another missile presided over by demon and released.
The verse warns that anger (krodha) clouds discernment; dharma requires clarity and restraint, especially in conflict, while rage pushes one toward destructive and adharma-aligned choices.
In the Rāma–Rāvaṇa duel, Rāvaṇa neutralizes Rāma’s weapon and immediately deploys a more terrifying, demonic missile.
By contrastive framing, the text highlights the need for self-mastery; Rāvaṇa exemplifies the vice of anger-driven action rather than a virtue.
