तत्र तत्कोपजं तेजः कृतं हयमुखं महत्।।4.40.47।।अस्याहुस्तन्महावेगमोदनं सचराचरम्।
tatra tat-kopajaṃ tejaḥ kṛtaṃ haya-mukhaṃ mahat || 4.40.47 ||
asyāhus tan-mahā-vegam odanaṃ sa-carācaram |
Di sana, daya menyala yang lahir dari murka itu menjelma menjadi Hayamukha yang agung; dikatakan bahwa oleh kedahsyatan lajunya, semua makhluk—yang bergerak maupun yang tak bergerak—menjadi santapannya.
'O monkeys! going beyond the milky ocean you will see the seas most dreadful to all creatures.
Dharma includes recognizing the consequences of uncontrolled anger: wrath becomes a consuming force, threatening all life—hence self-mastery is essential to righteousness.
Sugriva warns of a terrifying phenomenon in the Jaloda region: a horse-faced, destructive force said to devour everything.
Self-control (dama) by contrast: the verse cautions that unchecked krodha (anger) leads to ruin, so the righteous cultivate restraint.
