Lakshmana Enters Kishkindha: Anger, Tara’s Mediation, and Sugriva Encountered
तदागच्छ महाबाहो चारित्रं रक्षितं त्वया।अच्छलं मित्रभावेन सतां दारावलोकनम्।।।।
tad āgaccha mahābāhō cāritraṁ rakṣitaṁ tvayā |
acchalaṁ mitrabhāvēna satāṁ dārāvalōkanam ||
Maka, wahai yang berlengan panjang, masuklah; laku-pekertimu telah terjaga baik. Sebab memandang istri seorang yang saleh dengan niat persahabatan bukanlah tipu daya, bukan pula pelanggaran kesantunan.
'O long-armed one ! come in. You have been standing out guarding your character. It is not a mistake to see the wife of a pious person with a friendly feeling.
The verse highlights maryādā: propriety depends on intention and restraint—friendly, duty-bound interaction is distinguished from lustful or deceitful looking.
Tārā invites Lakṣmaṇa into the inner quarters, assuring him that his moral discipline remains intact and that her audience with him is proper.
