वालिविलापः
Vali’s Final Counsel and the Succession Charge
यथा हि त्वं महाबाहो लालितस्सततं मया।न तथा वर्तमानं त्वां सुग्रीवो बहुमंस्यते।।।।
yathā hi tvaṃ mahābāho lālitaḥ satataṃ mayā | na tathā vartamānaṃ tvāṃ sugrīvo bahumaṃsyate ||
Wahai yang berlengan perkasa, sebagaimana aku selalu memanjakan dan mengasihimu, demikian pula Sugrīva—dalam keadaan sekarang—barangkali tidak akan begitu menghargai dan meninggikanmu.
'O long-armed one! you have always been affectionately brought up by me. Sugriva may not rear you that way.
Dharma includes realism and self-protection: one should not assume others will show the same affection; one must act prudently within new power structures.
Vali, anticipating the political shift after his death, cautions Angada that Sugriva may not treat him with the same paternal tenderness.
Prudence (viveka): understanding changing relationships and preparing for life under a new ruler.
