क्रीडमाना ततः श्यामा ब्राह्मणीक्रन्दनध्वनिम् । आगतास्याः समीपं तु श्रुत्वा बाला तपोधना

krīḍamānā tataḥ śyāmā brāhmaṇīkrandanadhvanim | āgatāsyāḥ samīpaṃ tu śrutvā bālā tapodhanā

Kemudian Śyāmā, ketika sedang bermain, mendengar suara tangis seorang brāhmaṇī. Gadis muda yang kaya tapa-puṇya itu segera mendekat kepadanya.
