Pitṛmātṛtīrtha Greatness & the Discourse on Embodiment: Karma, Birth, Impurity, and Dispassion
इति स्वर्गेऽपि देवानां नास्ति सौख्यं विचारतः । क्षयश्च विषयासिद्धौ स्वर्गे भोगाय कर्मणाम्
iti svarge'pi devānāṃ nāsti saukhyaṃ vicārataḥ | kṣayaśca viṣayāsiddhau svarge bhogāya karmaṇām
Demikianlah, bahkan di svarga para dewa pun tiada memperoleh kebahagiaan sejati bila direnungkan; dan ketika objek kenikmatan tak tercapai, pahala (puṇya) dari karma demi bhoga surgawi pun turut habis.
Unspecified (narratorial/teaching voice within the Adhyaya context)
Concept: On reflection, svarga is not true happiness; karmas done for enjoyment are exhausted when enjoyables fail—therefore aim beyond bhoga.
Application: Before pursuing any goal, ask whether it is kṣaya (depleting) or akṣaya (non-depleting); choose practices that deepen devotion and character.

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"A sage-like figure holds a lotus and a mirror, contemplating a shimmering Svarga that appears like a mirage—palaces glitter, then subtly crack and fade. Below, a scale balances ‘bhoga-karman’ on one side and ‘bhakti to Viṣṇu’ on the other, the latter glowing steadily without diminishing.","primary_figures":["symbolic sage (vicāraka)","divaukasaḥ as distant silhouettes","personified Karma and Bhoga as fading lights","a steady Viṣṇu-emblem (śaṅkha-cakra) as akṣaya symbol"],"setting":"A liminal space between earth and heaven—cloud threshold with philosophical emblems (scales, mirror, lotus).","lighting_mood":"cool luminous clarity","color_palette":["moon silver","pale gold","cloud white","deep blue","sage green"],"tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore painting style: central contemplative sage with mirror and lotus, above him Svarga palaces in gold leaf beginning to fragment; to one side a radiant śaṅkha-cakra emblem glowing steadily; rich reds/greens, ornate jewelry, gold embossing emphasizing the contrast between fading and unfading.","pahari_prompt":"Pahari miniature style: refined contemplative scene on a cloud terrace, Svarga rendered as a delicate mirage with hairline cracks; a small Viṣṇu emblem or distant Viṣṇu form as the stable focal point; cool palette, fine brushwork, poetic symbolism.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural style: didactic composition with bold outlines—sage in contemplation, Svarga tier above, and symbolic scale showing kṣaya vs akṣaya; strong red-yellow-green pigments, temple-wall clarity, stylized motifs.","pichwai_prompt":"Pichwai cloth painting style: decorative border of lotuses and conch motifs; central symbolic balance with fading jeweled patterns on one side and steady deep-blue Viṣṇu-centered motif on the other; intricate floral filigree, gold highlights."}

Sandhi Resolution Notes: स्वर्गेऽपि = स्वर्गे + अपि; नास्ति = न + अस्ति; क्षयश्च = क्षयः + च.
It teaches that even Svarga does not provide lasting or ultimate happiness; when examined carefully, heavenly pleasure is limited and contingent.
Merit earned by actions aimed at heavenly enjoyment is finite; once the corresponding pleasures are experienced (or fail to be obtained), that stock of merit is depleted.
It encourages dispassion toward pleasure-seeking goals and points toward seeking a higher, more enduring good than temporary heavenly rewards.
