Aśokasundarī

Concept: Human relationships arise from causal order (kāraṇa) and destiny (bhavitavya); marriage is presented as a socially and karmically structured institution.

Secondary Rasa: adbhuta

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"Aśokasundarī stands in a calm teaching posture, one hand raised in gentle instruction, addressing an unseen interlocutor. FAQs

The speaker is Aśokasundarī, as indicated by “Aśokasuṃdaryuvāca” (“Aśokasundarī said”).

It means “the cause of all relationships/associations,” i.e., the underlying principle that brings social and personal bonds (such as marriage) into being.

The verse frames marriage and human relationships as guided by destiny and dharma, presenting the household bond (wife–husband) as a normative, world-ordering relationship for a ‘well-born’ person within traditional society.
