Glory of Puruṣottama: Pañcatīrthī Observance and Narasiṃha Worship
सुदूरस्थोऽपि प्रीतात्मा कीर्तयेत्पुरुषोत्तमम् । अहन्यहनि शुद्धात्मा सोऽपि विष्णुपुरं व्रजेत् ॥ ९ ॥
sudūrastho'pi prītātmā kīrtayetpuruṣottamam | ahanyahani śuddhātmā so'pi viṣṇupuraṃ vrajet || 9 ||
Walau berada jauh, siapa yang dengan hati penuh kasih setiap hari melantunkan pujian kepada Puruṣottama, ia menjadi suci batinnya dan mencapai kediaman Viṣṇu.
Narada (teaching within the Uttara-Bhaga tirtha/mahatmya context)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: shanta
It teaches that physical distance is not a barrier to liberation: loving, daily glorification of Puruṣottama purifies the devotee and leads to Viṣṇu’s abode.
Bhakti is shown as heartfelt kīrtana performed consistently (“day after day”); this sustained remembrance transforms the inner self (śuddhātmā) and culminates in reaching Viṣṇu-loka.
While no specific Vedanga is taught directly, the verse implicitly emphasizes correct devotional recitation (kīrtana), aligning with śikṣā (proper pronunciation) and vyākaraṇa (clarity of words) as supportive disciplines.
