The Greatness of Offering Piṇḍas at Viṣṇvādipada (Viṣṇupada) — Gayā Śrāddha Procedure and Fruits
Narada (in instruction on śrāddha procedure, addressed to Mohinī)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: bhakti
It emphasizes that performing a prescribed component of the śrāddha at the start or at the conclusion is not merely formal—it increases the rite’s śreyas (spiritual welfare) for the one conducting the ancestor offering.
While primarily ritual-focused, it aligns with bhakti through reverent, rule-guided worship: careful completion of prescribed acts (as remembered in Smṛti) is presented as spiritually beneficial, supporting a disciplined devotional life.
Kalpa (ritual procedure) is foregrounded: the verse specifies the placement of a prescribed act at the beginning or end of the rite, showing how timing and sequence matter in śrāddha performance.
