The Discourse of Rukmāṅgada

Prabodhinī Ekādaśī, Kārtika-vrata, and Satya-dharma

भर्तुः सौख्येन या नारी दुःखयुक्ता प्रजायते । सा तु श्येनी भवेद्राजंस्त्रीणि वर्षाणि पञ्च च ॥ ११ ॥

bhartuḥ saukhyena yā nārī duḥkhayuktā prajāyate | sā tu śyenī bhavedrājaṃstrīṇi varṣāṇi pañca ca || 11 ||

Wahai raja, wanita yang meski suaminya berbahagia tetap hidup diliputi duka, akan terlahir sebagai śyenī (elang) selama tiga tahun dan lima tahun lagi—delapan tahun.
