śāṃto'pi raudratāmeti huṃphaṭpallavayojanāt | chinnādidoṣayuktāste naiva rakṣaṃti sādhakam || 13 ||
Sanatkumara (in instruction to Narada)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhayanaka
Secondary Rasa: shanta
It stresses mantra-śuddhi (correctness): the intended spiritual effect depends on precise application, and defective or improperly modified mantras fail to safeguard the sādhaka.
By warning against careless ritualism, it indirectly supports bhakti’s emphasis on sincerity and right practice—devotion should be guided by proper śāstra so one’s worship does not become harmful or misdirected.
Ritual-technical knowledge akin to Kalpa and mantra-prayoga: adding bīja-syllables (huṃ/phaṭ) can shift a rite’s category (śānti to raudra), and textual faults like truncation (chinna) invalidate protective efficacy.
