तत्करोति तदाचष्टे हेतुमत्यपि णिर्मतः । धात्वर्थे कर्तृकरणाञ्चित्राद्याश्चापि धातवः ॥ ७३ ॥
tatkaroti tadācaṣṭe hetumatyapi ṇirmataḥ | dhātvarthe kartṛkaraṇāñcitrādyāścāpi dhātavaḥ || 73 ||
“Ia melakukan itu” dan “ia menyatakannya”—demikianlah akar kata didefinisikan, bahkan ketika bermakna kausatif (hetumati). Dalam makna dhātu ada akar yang menonjolkan pelaku dan alat, serta jenis-jenis lain yang beragam seperti ‘citra’ dan seterusnya.
