The Self is distinguished from the body and elements by being free from material modifications and injuries. Ethically this supports vairāgya: do not identify with what is cut, burned, or dried.
Doctrinal exposition (tattva-vicāra) outside pancalakṣaṇa narrative.
The list (cut/wet/burn/dry) functions as a systematic negation of elemental guṇas, indicating the ātman as nirguṇa relative to gross matter.
