Adhyaya 30 — Madālasā’s Instruction on Household Duties and Naimittika–Śrāddha Rites
मातुः सपिण्डा ये च स्युर्ये च मातुः सहोदकाः ।
कुर्युरेनं विधिं सम्यगपुत्रस्य सुतासुतः ॥
mātuḥ sapiṇḍā ye ca syur ye ca mātuḥ sahodakāḥ |
kuryur enaṃ vidhiṃ samyag aputrasya sutāsutaḥ ||
Mereka yang termasuk sapiṇḍa dari pihak ibu dan mereka yang termasuk sahodaka dari pihak ibu hendaknya melaksanakan ritus ini dengan benar bagi orang yang tidak berputra; bahkan cucu dari putri pun (boleh) melakukannya.

The Purāṇa recognizes maternal-line responsibility when the paternal-line performer is lacking, preventing ritual discontinuity and affirming broader family solidarity.
