गड्जाद्वारमथागम्य भगवानृषिसत्तम: | उग्रमातिष्ठत तप: सह पत्न्यानुकूलया,तदनन्तर मुनिश्रेष्ठ भगवान्‌ अगस्त्य अपनी अनुकूल पत्नीके साथ गंगाद्वार (हरिद्वार)- में आकर घोर तपस्यामें संलग्न हो गये

gaṅgādvāram athāgamya bhagavān ṛṣisattamaḥ | ugram ātiṣṭhata tapaḥ saha patnyānukūlayā ||

Kemudian Bhagawan Agastya, yang utama di antara para resi, tiba di Gaṅgādvāra (Haridwar). Di sana, bersama istrinya yang setia dan sejalan, ia menegakkan tapa yang amat berat.
