Vyāsa’s Counsel to Yudhiṣṭhira: Pratismṛti-vidyā, Arjuna’s Aśtra-Quest, and the Move to Kāmyaka
मास्माकं क्षत्रियकुले जन्म कश्चिदवाप्रुयात्
māsmākaṃ kṣatriyakule janma kaścid avāpruyāt
Semoga tak seorang pun lagi terlahir dalam wangsa Ksatria kami.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse conveys a moral lament about the burdens of inherited duty: being born into a warrior lineage can compel one toward violence and painful choices, so the speaker wishes that none should have to inherit such a fate. It highlights the tension between social dharma (role-based duty) and the human cost of fulfilling it.
In Vaiśampāyana’s narration, a speaker expresses despair at the consequences associated with Kṣatriya life—conflict, loss, and ethical strain—by uttering a wish that no one be born into their warrior clan.
