पिता त्वां पातु सर्वत्र तपनस्तपतां वर: । येन दत्तो$सि मे पुत्र दिव्येन विधिना किल,“पुत्र! जिन्होंने दिव्य रीतिसे तुझे मेरे गर्भमें स्थापित किया है वे तपनेवालोंमें श्रेष्ठ तेरे पिता भगवान् सूर्य सर्वत्र तेरा पालन करें
pitā tvāṃ pātu sarvatra tapanas tapatāṃ varaḥ | yena datto'si me putra divyena vidhinā kila ||
Semoga ayahmu—Dewa Surya, Tapana, yang terunggul di antara para pembakar—melindungimu di mana pun. Sebab oleh ketetapan ilahi, demikian dikisahkan, engkau dianugerahkan kepadaku sebagai putra.
वैशग्पायन उवाच
Protection and legitimacy are presented as arising from divine order (divyena vidhinā). The verse models gratitude and reverence toward the divine source behind one’s birth and welfare, aligning personal identity with dharma rather than mere circumstance.
The speaker offers a benediction: the child is blessed to be protected everywhere by his father, identified as the Sun-god Tapana. The statement recalls that the child’s coming into the speaker’s lineage occurred through a divine dispensation.
