अध्याय ३० — क्रोधदोषाः क्षमाप्रशंसा च

Defects of Anger and the Praise of Forbearance

ब्राह्मणा: सर्वकामैस्ते सततं पार्थ तर्पिता: । यतयो मोक्षिणश्रैव गृहस्थाश्वैव भारत,पार्थ! आपने ब्राह्मणोंकी समस्त कामनाएँ पूरी करके सदा उन्हें तृप्त किया है। भारत! आपके यहाँ मोक्षाभिलाषी संन्यासी तथा गृहस्थ ब्राह्मण सोनेके पात्रोंमें भोजन करते थे। जहाँ स्वयं मैं अपने हाथों उनकी सेवा-टहल करती थी। वानप्रस्थोंको भी आप सोनेके पात्र दिया करते थे। आपके घरमें कोई ऐसी वस्तु नहीं थी, जो ब्राह्मणोंके लिये अदेय हो

brāhmaṇāḥ sarvakāmais te satataṃ pārtha tarpitāḥ | yatayo mokṣiṇaś caiva gṛhasthāś caiva bhārata ||

Yudhiṣṭhira berkata: “Wahai Pārtha, engkau senantiasa memuaskan para brāhmaṇa dengan memenuhi segala keinginan mereka yang patut. Wahai Bhārata, di rumahmu para pertapa pencari mokṣa dan para brāhmaṇa berumah tangga sama-sama dihormati dan ditopang sebagaimana mestinya.”
