Sūrya-stava: Dhaumya’s Counsel and the Aṣṭaśata-nāma of Sūrya
The verse foregrounds the ethical power of disciplined remembrance: sacred epithets (here, a set of 108 names) are presented as a structured devotional practice that supports steadiness of mind and righteous action.
Vaiśampāyana signals a forthcoming recitation: he will narrate how the sage Dhaumya previously taught Pārtha a set of one hundred and eight names (contextually, of Sūrya), preparing the listener for an invocation-style passage.
