Educational Q&A

Steadfastness in dharma is shown through disciplined endurance and clear resolve: Sāvitrī asserts that austerity (fasting) has not weakened her and that a righteous, determined purpose should not be obstructed.

Within Mārkaṇḍeya’s narration of the Sāvitrī–Satyavān episode, Sāvitrī responds to an attempt to stop her from accompanying the journey. She insists she is neither faint nor fatigued from fasting and asks that she not be forbidden to go.
