Dharma-vyādha’s Analysis of Moral Decline and the Mahābhūta–Guṇa Schema (धर्मव्याधोपदेशः)

dātāraṃ hānugacchanti sarve kāmābhivāñchitāḥ | yo vidvān brāhmaṇako bhūmidāna kartā hai, us dātāke pāsa sabhī manovāñchita bhoga svataḥ ā jāte haiṃ |

Educational Q&A

The verse teaches that generosity—especially the meritorious gift of land to a worthy brāhmaṇa—draws prosperity and desired outcomes to the donor, presenting dāna as a central practice of dharma with tangible and moral fruits.

Mārkaṇḍeya is instructing his listeners on the fruits of charitable giving, praising the donor and highlighting bhūmidāna as a particularly powerful form of generosity within the dharma-discourse of the Vana Parva.
