Wealth-seeking becomes dharmic when it is motivated by duty and the support of worthy dependents (here, Brahmins), not by personal indulgence or greed. Intention (lobha vs. bharaṇa) is presented as the ethical measure.
Yudhiṣṭhira explains his motive for wanting wealth: he is not pursuing it for personal enjoyment, but to provide maintenance for Brahmins. The statement frames his conduct as aligned with dharma despite material need.
