Dharma-vyādha’s Instruction on Śiṣṭācāra and Dharma

Educational Q&A

A ruler’s dharma is tested through compassion and self-sacrifice: protecting the vulnerable may demand personal loss, and such righteous action becomes the true ‘royal mark’ of auspicious fortune.

The pigeon addresses the king who has cut off his own flesh with a sword as a ransom to save the pigeon. The pigeon then blesses the king, declaring that the wound will become auspicious—golden, beautiful, and fragrant—signifying royal merit and fortune.
