Book 3, Āraṇyaka-parva — Adhyāya 19: Pradyumna’s Reproach of Withdrawal and the Ethics of Kṣātra Reputation
स द्वारकां परित्यज्य क्रूरो वृष्णिभिरार्दित: । सौभमास्थाय राजेन्द्र दिवमाचक्रमे तदा,महाराज! उस समय वृष्णिवंशियोंसे पीड़ित हो क्रूर स्वभाववाला शाल्व द्वारकाको छोड़कर अपने सौभ नामक विमानका आश्रय ले आकाशमें जा पहुँचा
sa dvārakāṃ parityajya krūro vṛṣṇibhir ārditaḥ | saubham āsthāya rājendra divam ācakrame tadā ||
Wahai Maharaja, saat itu Śālva yang berhati kejam—terdesak oleh para Vṛṣṇi—meninggalkan Dvārakā. Ia berlindung pada wahana terbang bernama Saubha dan pun naik ke angkasa.
वायुदेव उवाच
Aggression and cruelty, when met by united resistance, lead not to lasting victory but to retreat and further escalation; the verse highlights the ethical consequence that violent intent invites counter-force and loss of ground.
Śālva, harried by the Vṛṣṇis, withdraws from Dvārakā and escapes by mounting his flying craft Saubha, ascending into the sky to continue the conflict from a strategic advantage.
