Markandeya’s Account of Yugas, Kali Signs, and Dissolution
The verse teaches that a king’s proper function is to dispel adharma—social and moral darkness—just as the sun removes physical darkness. Legitimate rule is defined by protecting dharma through active suppression of injustice.
Sanatkumāra is instructing about the nature of righteous rulership, using a cosmic analogy: the sun’s radiance in the divine realm is mirrored by the king’s duty on earth to maintain order and remove wrongdoing.
