Ethical action begins with thoughtful deliberation: the verse highlights a conscious choice of the forest—symbolizing austerity and self-discipline—made without impulsiveness, and undertaken while still honoring family relationships by formally informing and addressing one’s wife and sons.
A powerful, radiant figure decides to go to the forest (typically for tapas or a dharmic purpose). He summons his wife and sons and begins to speak to them, setting up the next lines where his intention and instructions will be stated.
