मार्कण्डेय उवाच
As a concluding colophon, the line signals that the chapter’s subject is brāhmaṇa-māhātmya—affirming the ethical value of learning, self-discipline, truthfulness, and dharma as foundations of social order and spiritual merit.
This is not a spoken narrative verse but an editorial/colophon-style closure stating that the 184th chapter—on the theme of the greatness of brāhmaṇas—within the Markandeya-related sub-section of the Vana Parva has been completed.
