नहुषो नाम राजर्षिव््यक्ते ते श्रोत्रमागत:ः तवैव पूर्व: पूर्वेषामायोरवशधर: सुतः,“मैं राजर्षि नहुष हूँ, अवश्य ही यह मेरा नाम तुम्हारे कानोंमें पड़ा होगा। मैं तुम्हारे पूर्वजोंका भी पूर्वज हूँ। महाराज आयुका वंशप्रवर्तक पुत्र हूँ
nahuṣo nāma rājarṣir vyakte te śrotram āgataḥ | tavaiva pūrvaḥ pūrveṣām āyor vaṃśadharaḥ sutaḥ ||
“Aku adalah resi-raja bernama Nahuṣa; tentu namaku telah sampai ke telingamu. Aku adalah leluhur dari para leluhurmu— putra yang memikul dan meneruskan wangsa Raja Āyu.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
