Authority and power are to be approached through disciplined obedience to dharmic purpose. Indra’s directive frames Arjuna’s ascent not as indulgence but as a sanctioned step in ethical preparation—training that must serve righteous ends.
Indra, identified by epithets Maghavan and Deveśa, mounts his splendid chariot and instructs Arjuna (Phalguna) that he must travel to Svarga, initiating Arjuna’s celestial journey and the next phase of his preparation.
